Editorial code
The rules our editors follow on every page, from the first draft to a correction.
Accuracy
- Legal and regulatory statements are checked against primary sources: federal and provincial statutes, regulators, exchanges and the Canada Revenue Agency. Figures that change each year, such as Investment Canada Act and Competition Act thresholds, carry the year.
- Vendor facts come from the vendor’s own documentation and published pricing. When we cannot confirm a fact, we leave it out or say “ask the vendor”.
- Prices in Canadian dollars are conversions, marked as approximate, with the rate and date shown.
Plain language
We write for busy professionals. Short sentences, concrete numbers, no hype. We use Canadian spelling and Canadian terms.
Testing claims
We do not claim to have tested a product in ways we have not. Where hands-on checks matter, we publish a checklist so readers can run them in a free trial.
Not legal or tax advice
Our guides and calculators explain how Canadian rules generally work. They are not legal, tax or accounting advice. Talk to your lawyer, notary or accountant before you act.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the date on the page. Send corrections through the contact page.
Independence
Vendors cannot pay for a score or a position. Our commercial relationships are described on how we earn.
